Cindi SturtzSreetharan is a Professor of Anthropology at Arizona State University’s School of Human Evolution and Social Change. She has a Masters of Asian Studies from the University of Oregon and PhD. In Anthropology from the University of California at Davis. Dr. SturtzSreetharan is the author of Fat in Four Culture: A Global Ethnography of Weight. Much of her research revolves around a language-in-interaction approach to understanding masculinity. Specifically, she explores how Japanese men harness language as a tool to establish, sustain, or challenge their masculine identities. In her recent work, she is studying the complex interactions and intersections of language, the human body, and medicine.
