Why does Civic engagement matter to you?
Civic engagement is important to me because I believe that it is important for people to do good things for people around them. This helps to promote an atmosphere of community and togetherness that can uplift those in less fortunate situations.
How has this position impacted your understanding of vocation?
This position has helped me understand the work that goes into getting programs started and how obstacles can help nurture an even better end result.
What is your favorite local community organization, and why?
My favorite local community organization is the Community Action Center and, more specifically, the food shelf. I was exposed to the food recovery program in my junior year and loved the ability to easily pick up food that would otherwise be discarded and help families get food and necessities.
What is the best way to relax after a long day?
My favorite way to relax after a long day involves listening to music or watching a TV series.

Civic Engagement matters to me because it connects us as individuals to a broader community that can enact change for the better.
How has this position impacted your understanding of vocation?
This position has taught me just how wide the world of civic engagement is and how many opportunities I still have left to explore.
What is your favorite local community organization and why?
My favorite community organization is Books on Central in Faribault. The bookstore is a completely volunteer run second hand book store. The space is absolutely gorgeous and all the proceeds go to support local non-profits.
What is the best way to relax after a long day?
A hot cup of tea.

Why does Civic Engagement matter to you?
Civic engagement matters to me because I think it is paramount to a fulfilling life, as well as creating and maintaining happy, close knit communities.
How has this position impacted your understanding of vocation?
This position has helped me realize that finding your vocation is a continuous and personally directed process, not a title or an outcome. Because of this, a vocation that is truly right for you won’t look the same as somebody else’s.
What is your favorite local community organization and why?
My favorite local community organization is the Northfield + Cannon Falls chapter of The League of Women Voters. I am very passionate about helping people find involvement in their communities, and I think that helping individuals learn about said communities – and the issues that affect them – is one of the most important steps in this process.
What is the best way to relax after a long day?
Spending time with friends!
