Student Organization Funding

The Institute for Freedom and Community seeks to provide funding and other administrative support to student organizations whose activities promote the values of free inquiry and spirited expression, so that people with diverse points of view and values can study, discuss, and debate political and social issues in respectful environments.  We invite you to find out more about our mission and goals here, and to apply for support using the form below.

IFC faculty and staff are happy to talk with you and help develop proposals. Some examples might include: structured conversations or meetings among people of different political perspectives; a student debate team or society; original research or activities that demonstrate the value and importance of the IFC’s ideals in a real-world setting. You can also check out this link for additional inspiration.

Please note: it is unlikely that the IFC would grant funds intended for inviting individual outside speakers to campus. The IFC sponsors its own series of speakers each term and is interested in promoting new student-led activities that involve the participation of Oles or otherwise directly impact their ability to engage in civil, constructive discourse.

Please fill out the following items to the best of your ability, and contact us with any questions you might have.  Proposals will be evaluated by IFC staff in consultation with the Director’s Council on a first-come, first-serve basis until budgeted funds are expended. We may also request a brief meeting with you to discuss your proposal in more depth prior to official consideration.

Thank you for your interest in the IFC and the work you do to improve the St. Olaf community.
